The Manufacturing Process of Custom Sunglasses

The manufacturing process of sport sunglasses involves several steps, from design and material selection to lens cutting, frame production, assembly, and quality control.

In wooly, except injection, we have design, plastic injection, lens cutting, marking, polishing, painting, assembly and QC/packing departments. Although we do not have complete vertical production line, we have some reliable suppliers who have work together and export our goods to all around the world over 30 years, and try to provide a complete one-stop service.

Here's a general overview of the manufacturing process for sport sunglasses:

 Lens of Sunglasses:

• Injection - The molten polycarbonate is injected into the mold cavity under high pressure. The pressure helps the material fill the mold and take its shape. This process is relatively quick and allows for the mass production of lenses. After the mold is filled, the molten polycarbonate is allowed to cool and solidify. The cooling time is carefully controlled to ensure the lens retains its desired properties. Once the lens has solidified, the mold opens, and the lens is ejected. The excess material (flash) is trimmed off, leaving the finished lens.

• Surface Coating - There are various lens coating technology applied on sport sunglasses such as Anti-fog coating/ Hydrophobic coating/Oleophobic coating/ Mirror coating/ Polarized coating/ Revo coating and so on. Manufactures can use these coating technologies for specific needs of the sports or wearer's preferences.

• Lens cutting - Using the traced template, the lens cutting machine precisely cuts the lens to fit the specific shape of the sport sunglasses frame. The cutting process may take into account factors such as wraparound designs and lens curvatures typical of sports eyewear.

• Injection - Similar procedure like lens injection. In sport sunglaases we usually PC(polycarbonate), Nylon, TR90, or G850 (Arkema) depends on customer's need

• Polishing - The frames of sport sunglasses may also undergo polishing to remove any imperfections in the material and enhance their appearance. This can involve using polishing compounds, buffing wheels, or hand polishing.

• Painting - The painting procedure for sport sunglasses involves applying a protective and decorative coating to the frames.
